Resident & Global Taxation

Every rupee saved in tax is a rupee that stays invested and compounds. Unlike market returns, it doesn't depend on anyone's forecast being right. It only depends on planning ahead — and on someone looking at the whole picture early enough for the planning to matter.

WHY IT USUALLY GOES UNCLAIMED

Every decision has a tax dimension. We connect them.

We review gains and losses across all twelve months, so nothing has to be reconciled in a panic in March.

Thinking through the year

We flag the tax consequence of a redemption while it is still a decision, rather than explaining it once it is a transaction.

Advising before, not after

Different instruments carry different treatments. Where something is held is often worth more than what it returns.

Advising on where it sits

Your accountant knows your filings. We know your portfolio. The savings sit between the two, and that is where we work.

Working with your CA

We bring your investments, gains and cross-border circumstances into one view.

Tax planning done in March is damage control. Tax planning done through the year is strategy.

Proactive Tax Strategy

Where we add value

Your annual tax position

We review your gains and losses across the full financial year rather than in the final quarter, and advise on how redemptions and transactions might be sequenced so their tax consequences are considered before they are made rather than after.

Loss harvesting

Long-term capital gains on equity carry an annual exemption. Most investors never use it fully, simply because nobody was watching. We monitor realised and unrealised positions across your portfolio and tell you where that headroom sits, so it can be used deliberately each year and losses offset against gains where it makes sense to.

Diversifying your tax liability

Different instruments are taxed differently, and at different points in time. We advise on how holdings might be spread across those treatments, and on staggering when gains are realised, so the liability is smoothed rather than concentrated into a single painful year.

Cross-border income and DTAA

India holds Double Taxation Avoidance Agreements with a wide range of countries. They exist precisely so the same income is not taxed twice, but claiming the benefit requires the right treaty reading, the right documentation and the right filings. We help you understand where your global income is taxable and what relief you are entitled to, and set out exactly what your accountant will need in place to claim it.

Strings of national flags across a narrow street
Changing residential status

Residential status alters your tax position substantially, and it often shifts mid-year. Whether you are leaving, returning or holding assets in a country you no longer live in, we set out what changes and what is worth restructuring before the change takes effect, so you are acting ahead of it rather than reacting to it.

“

Earning is effort. Keeping is design.

BENEATH THE PORTFOLIO

Equity, debt, property, gold, overseas holdings and unlisted shares each carry their own tax treatment.
Property carries its own regime, with indexation, exemptions and reinvestment reliefs that most families never claim because nobody raised them at the right moment. Gold, overseas holdings and unlisted shares each follow their own rules.

That is the work. We look at what you hold, how you hold it and what you intend it to do, then advise on where the leakage is. Your accountant then files on a position that was planned rather than discovered.

Every asset needs a different strategy.

The next thing you add should earn its place.

And so should everything you already own. Start with a review of the portfolio. We apply the same test to the portfolio you arrived with as to anything we would suggest.

Still Got Questions? We are here to help.

  • I am returning to India. Should I sell my overseas investments before I move?

That deserves a review before any sale. Your residency position, the timing of the move and the rules in both countries can affect the outcome. We work with your tax specialists to assess your holdings and options before you act.

  • My children live abroad. Should I gift assets now or leave them as an inheritance?

There is no single answer across countries. Your own future needs come first, followed by the implications for you and your children under the relevant tax, inheritance and reporting rules. We help frame the financial choices for review with legal and tax specialists.
Lets Connect>

  • Will you file my returns or replace my overseas accountant?

No. We connect your investment decisions with the work of your existing advisors. Our role is to help the right information reach the right specialist early enough to inform your decisions.
